Flamenco embodies a complex musical and cultural tradition. Although considered part of the culture of Spain in general, Flamenco actually originates from one region: Andalusia. Flamenco is a musical genre with strong, rhythmic undertones and is accompanied with a similarly impassioned style of dance involving vigorous movements, such as hand clapping and foot-stamping. Originally, Flamenco consisted just of unaccompanied singing and was later accompanied by a guitar and then movement. It has since become an icon of Spanish culture and will prove iconic with us at WDU.
