Who We Are

Our Mission

World Dance Unite is proud to announce the launch of the first annual World Dance Festival in London. Sponsored by Plaza Estates, this event will be aiming to promote global peace and unification through dance. We look more specifically to bring traditional dances from different countries of each continent together and in doing that, unite and promote appreciation of International cultures here in London- one of the most culturally diverse capitals in the world. WHO WE ARE

World Dance Unite was formed in 2007 by a performing artist Yasmin Shawkat to promote dance and encourage its growth within society. As a professional dancer, instructor and performer in London, Yasmin had a vision to use dance as a means of achieving unity and cultural peace.

‘One of the most inspiring aspects of my life is my involvement with dance, it’s a form of self-expression, empowerment, freedom and vitality in life and I remain eternally exhilarated and committed to my vision of world peace and unity. This organisation aim’s to support and create opportunities for diverse independent business’ (Yasmin Shawkat 2007).

We hope that in sharing and promoting this exceptionally beautiful art form, audiences will be touched, moved and inspired, creating a ripple effect for their immediate and future communities.

Charity

WDU events aim to raise money for registered Charity and for the launch event we have teamed up with Marie Curie Cancer Care to raise some funds. WDU is a charitable organisation with a remarkable vision and a way forward.

This year we are holding raffle draws with generous gift donations to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. It is an integral part of this world event. We aim to raise yearly funds for an international charity as World Dance Unite continues to grow.

Artists

In addition to all this, WDU will endeavour to provide a platform for professional dancers, instructors, performing arts organisations and accredited dance schools from each Country- thus to represent their Countries, Art and Culture. London is a hotbed of dance talent and we welcome all enthusiasts to get in contact and become a part of...

...the WDU family.
